Lenovo releases new 16-inch ThinkPad globally with 120 Hz VRR OLED display and 96 GB LPCAMM2 RAM

Less than a year has passed since we put the ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 through its paces with AMD processors (curr. $1,459 on Amazon). Nonetheless, Lenovo has now released a Gen 5 model globally. Already available in Europe after debuting in March 2026, the ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 swaps AMD Krackan Point and Strix Point for the newer but similar Gorgon Point platform.
Specifically, Lenovo offers its new ThinkPad P16s with up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470 processor. Also, the 16-inch laptop is configurable with up to 96 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, a 2 TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD and a 90 Wh battery that supports 140 W charging. Up to an Nvidia RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell laptop GPU can be optioned at checkout too, packing 3,328 CUDA cores, 8 GB of VRAM and a 384 GB/s memory bandwidth. All this hardware fits into a 1.75 kg chassis that measures 357.9 247.9 x 11.45~18.15 mm.

Pricing starts at $5,299 in the US, compared to HKD 18,024 (~$2,299) in Hong Kong. For the most part, this disparity exists because Lenovo is only selling a preconfigured model in the US with 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage, a 90 Wh battery and an RTX Pro 1000 Blackwell laptop GPU. Additionally, this configuration features a Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450 processor and a 30-120 Hz VRR OLED display that resolves at 2,880 x 1,800 pixels with 500 nits peak brightness.
Meanwhile, the same laptop starts with lesser hardware, including a 1200p IPS display with 400 nits peak brightness, 45% NTSC colour space coverage and a 60 Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the base ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 (AMD) drops to a Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440 processor, 16 GB of LPCAMM2, a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and a 60 Wh battery that supports 100 W charging.
