Lenovo releases cheaper 14-inch ThinkPad internationally with Intel Wildcat Lake processors

Lenovo has expanded the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 with more SKUs, over a year after we reviewed Gen 7 models (curr. $1,009 on Amazon). To recap, the company already sells the 14-inch laptop with AMD Ryzen AI 400 and Intel Panther Lake processors. As we discovered last week, these have now been complemented by cheaper Intel Wildcat Lake alternatives.
For the time being, these new variants are not available globally. Instead, Lenovo is selling the new ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 across Australia, East Asia and Southeast Asia. By default, the 14-inch laptop starts with the Core 5 315, a six-core processor with its two Cougar Cove P-Cores and four Darkmont LP E-Cores running at 4.4 GHz and 3.3 GHz.
Currently, pricing starts at AUD 1,438, HKD 9,540, MYR 6,252 and SGD 2,307 (~$1,787) in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, respectively. However, the cheaper Core 3 304 is available in all but Australia, which drops one P-Core to yield five total processor cores with a lower P-core clock speed than the Core 5 315. too.
Still, these Wildcat Lake options cost about as much as their more powerful AMD Ryzen AI 400-equipped counterparts. By contrast, Intel Panther Lake models cost at least AUD 1,817, HKD 10,880, MYR 5,469 and SGD 2,104 (~$1,630) in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, respectively.
Alternatively, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 can be configured with up to the Core 7 350, the second most powerful option in the Wildcat Lake range after the Core 7 360. Elsewhere, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 comes with up to 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a 48 Wh or 64 Wh battery.
Moreover, Lenovo sells a choice of two displays distinguished by touch support. Unfortunately, both are 1200p IPS panels with 400 nits peak brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate and 45% NTSC colour space coverage. Please see Lenovo’s website for more details.
