Lenovo launches new 16-inch gaming laptop with Inkjet-printed OLED and 240Hz

Inkjet-printed (IJP) OLED displays are starting to show up in consumer devices. Earlier this week, MSI unveiled the PRO MAX OLED 271UPJW12 monitor with a 27-inch IJP OLED panel. Now, Lenovo is bringing the same tech to gaming laptops.
The company has announced the Legion R9000P, a new 16-inch gaming laptop with an IJP OLED display from TCL CSOT. As far as we know, it's the first laptop to bring the new OLED panel to the masses, and it pairs it with a 240Hz refresh rate and up to 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. That said, 240Hz OLED gaming laptops have existed for a while, like the new Legion Pro 5 16AFR10, so the biggest advantage here is the potential cost savings.
Unlike the traditional vacuum thermal evaporation (VTE) manufacturing process, inkjet printing is said to speed up production while reducing manufacturing costs. That means the Legion R9000P could end up costing less than similar 240Hz OLED gaming laptops on the market. Unfortunately, Lenovo did not say how much the Legion R9000P will cost, so whether that actually happens remains to be seen.
Elsewhere, the new Legion R9000P is expected to use a true RGB stripe subpixel layout, which could also improve text and image clarity by eliminating the color fringing seen on many OLED displays. More specifications, pricing, and availability details will be announced closer to launch.
