Samsung launches Freestyle+ portable projector in the US

Samsung has just launched its Freestyle+ AI Smart Projector in the US. Intended to deliver Full HD on screens up to 100 inches, the compact projector is said to automatically optimize image quality in different environments. AI-powered technologies, including 3D Auto Keystone, Wall Calibration, Screen Fit and Obstacle Avoidance, reportedly ensure properly aligned image content on uneven, patterned or colored surfaces. The device is marketed at users seeking a flexible viewing experience both indoors and outdoors. Although an internal battery is not installed, it does have USB-C power, allowing it to operate with compatible external battery packs.
Picture quality is provided by up to 430 ISO lumens combined with PurColor and HDR10+ support. Sound is delivered by a 360-degree speaker system with dual-passive woofers, and the device can sync with compatible Samsung soundbars or WiFi speakers via Q-Symphony for richer audio.
The Freestyle+ also functions as a smart entertainment hub via Samsung's Tizen platform, providing access to popular streaming services, Samsung TV Plus and console-free cloud gaming. Users can also mirror content wirelessly from compatible Galaxy devices via Smart View and Tap View, while Apple users can connect via AirPlay 2.
Priced at $1,199.99, the Freestyle+ is now available via Samsung's online store and at select US retailers, such as Amazon. Interested buyers would be advised to wait a little until independent party reviews confirm whether the projector indeed lives up to Samsung's marketing hype.
