Halo: Campaign Evolved studio reportedly has no new games planned after release date

Facing declining profits, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is prioritizing the company’s successful franchises. However, following the Halo: Campaign Evolved release date, the studio’s roadmap looks meager. Insider Rebs Gaming claims that no new mainline entry, multiplayer game, or other remakes are in development.
Project management miscues
Rebs Gaming previously reported on mismanagement and abuse at Halo Studios, including by leader Pierre Hintze. The lack of direction has apparently resulted in an uncertain outlook for the shooter series. According to the leaker, two other games, in addition to the imminent Combat Evolved remake, had been scheduled for the next 3 years.
Project Ekur may have begun as a battle royale experience before pivoting to an Unreal Engine extraction shooter. Hintze then decided to return to the battle royale format. Unfortunately, as development of Campaign Evolved struggled, he decided to cancel the multiplayer title.
Halo Studios had also hoped to make more progress on an original campaign, referred to as Next. Now, its future is very much in doubt. In addition, there are no positive signs for a potential Halo 2 or Halo 3 remake. Finally, two other direct sources of Rebs Gaming say that they know nothing of a rumored MMO.
Chances of a Campaign Evolved DLC
Halo Fest in December will celebrate the 25th year of the Xbox franchise. Project Ekur was a candidate for a reveal at the event, before meeting its demise. Depending on the reception to the Halo: Campaign Evolved release date, a DLC for the title may be the most likely announcement.
The insider thinks that any new Halo game is still in the conceptual stage. That said, with the fate of many Xbox studios in flux, leadership may be feeling the pressure to produce. Some analysts believe that the Microsoft-owned Bethesda felt the urgency to shadow-drop news about Fallout games on July 17th.
Developers at Halo Studios are also reportedly fearing layoffs. While most fans would blame executives for a depressing roadmap, they accept that another major shakeup is necessary.
