HP has released a new 16-inch laptop globally featuring AMD Ryzen AI 400 processors. Complemented by an 8-cell and 77 Wh battery, the EliteBook 8 G2a 16 can also be configured with up to 64 GB of RAM and PCIe Gen 5 storage.

HP has finally released the EliteBook 8 G2a 16-inch globally. Revealed in March, the 16-inch laptop leverages AMD's Ryzen AI 400 platform with SODIMM RAM, PCIe Gen 5 storage and a 77 Wh battery (8-cell). Incidentally, the latter appears to be the same battery that we tested last year in the EliteBook 8 G1a 16.

According to our benchmarks, the EliteBook 8 G2a 16 should outperform our EliteBook 8 G1a 16 review unit and the EliteBook 8 G1i 16 (curr. $2,099 on Amazon) when configured with the Ryzen AI 7 450. For reference, the EliteBook 8 G2a 16 is relatively lightweight for a 16-inch laptop at 1.74 kg. Nonetheless, HP includes HDMI 2.1, RJ45 Ethernet and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Pricing starts at €2,329 in the Eurozone with the Ryzen AI 5 435, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 1200p and 400-nit IPS display. Surprisingly, the same configuration retails for £1,285. Meanwhile, HP prices the EliteBook 8 G2a 16-inch at $1,799 in the US with the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440 instead of the Ryzen AI 5 435.

However, the laptop currently reaches €3,399 in the Eurozone with the more powerful Ryzen AI 7 450, 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD and the same display. A comparable SKU exists in the US too, but for $5,558. A 64 GB RAM variant reaches $5,843, though. Unfortunately, a fully configurable unit remains unavailable for now, as are 120 Hz VRR display panels. Please see HP's website for more details.
