HP releases new 16-inch laptop globally with 64 GB RAM and 120 Hz VRR display

HP has now released the ZBook 8 G2a 16 globally. Announced in March 2026, the ZBook 8 G2a 16 adopts up to AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470 processor with Radeon 890M graphics. Paired with a 68 Wh battery, the new 16-inch laptop can also be configured with up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage and 64 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM via dual SODIMM slots.
Moreover, HP offers ten display configurations. By default, the ZBook 8 G2a 16 starts with an IPS panel that combines a 1200p resolution with 300 nits peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Alternatively, HP sells displays with 800 nits peak brightness, 1400p/120 Hz combinations and even a 4K variant that delivers a 120 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness with HP's DreamColor technology.

Officially, pricing starts at $3,223 in the US with Windows 11 Pro, a Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage and HP's cheapest display installed. However, one can drop the laptop's price to $2,973 by selecting FreeDOS or Ubuntu Linux 24.04 at checkout. Also, Provantage is already selling this entry-level model for $2,208 on Amazon US.
Meanwhile, the laptop currently costs £1,679 in the UK and €3,543 in the Eurozone with the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450 but differing memory and display configurations. Cheaper and more expensive SKUs should eventually be available in the UK, though. Please see HP's website for more details.
