HP ZBook 8 G2a workstation laptop for demanding local compute and AI workloads announced

HP has upgraded its ZBook 8 lineup with the G2a, the successor to the G1a. This time around, the company has added a 16-inch model alongside the 14-inch. They will come with both Intel and AMD CPU options to power demanding local compute and AI workloads. The company is boasting significant performance improvements over the ZBook 8 G1a series of laptops.
HP ZBook 8 G2a features
The company is yet to share key details about the workstation laptops but as per the press release, the ZBook 8 G2a will come with Intel Arc Pro and AMD Radeon GPUs with scalable dedicated VRAM. HP says it was able to bring these hardware and performance improvements without compromising on battery life. They will also support CoPilot+ as well as HP IQ, the company’s built-in system that offers seamless connectivity between select HP devices, orchestrates the on-device AI for better task management, all through a universal multi-modal interface called Visor.
With the ZBook 8 series of workstation laptops, HP is targeting engineers and architects to improve their workflows by faster compute and AI assistance. For connectivity, both the 14-inch and 16-inch models get three USB Type-C ports including a Thunderbolt port, a USB Type-A port, and a full-size HDMI port. The 16-inch model also gets an additional ethernet port.
HP ZBook 8 G2a price and availability
Both the 14-inch and 16-inch ZBook 8 G2a models will be available for purchase from HP.com starting next month (April). The company has not shared an exact date or pricing for these models. More information should be available in the coming weeks.
