HP unveils EliteDesk 8 Mini G2a and EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i mini-PCs with newest Intel and AMD hardware

HP has shown off two new small-form-factor PCs alongside the multitude of laptops and desktops it showed off. The EliteDesk 8 Mini G2a and EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i are portable solutions that weigh a little over a kilogram and can fit on any VESA mount-compatible monitor.
As their names imply, the EliteDesk 8 Mini G2A comes with AMD's Ryzen AI 400 CPUs, whereas the EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i opt for unnamed Intel CPUs, with HP vaguely describing it as "Intel Core Ultra 45W mobile processors with 50 TOPS NPU".
The small form factor rules out the possibility of any external GPUs, so one has to make do with the integrated solutions offered by Intel/AMD. The EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i supports up to 64 GB of DDR5-6400 RAM, whereas the EliteDesn 8 Mini G2a is limited to DDR5-5600 with the same capacity. Both mini-PCs have three PCIe Gen 4 slots and can support up to a 2 TB drive in each for a total of 6 TB.
Other subtle differences between the EliteDesk 8 Mini G2A and EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i include charger support. The Intel variant can be powered by up to a 180-Watt barrel pin connector, while the AMD version caps out at 120-Watts. Alternatively, one can also use HP's 100-Watt USB-C charger on both models.
HP says both models can be bought in April 2026 for an unspecified price.
