AMD launches Ryzen AI 400 desktop processors with up to 50 TOPS NPU and Copilot+ support

AMD has just announced the expansion of its Ryzen AI portfolio at MWC 2026 with the launch of the Ryzen AI 400 Series (desktop) and Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series (mobile) processors. It's the first series of desktop and notebook processors designed to natively support Microsoft Copilot+ experiences, which until now was reserved for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ laptops.
The Ryzen AI 400 Series will be shipping with a 50 TOPS XDNA 2 NPU along with Zen 5 CPU cores, and AMD RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, which are designed to run AI assistants and large language models locally, improving privacy and reducing reliance on cloud-based processing.
The lineup includes 65W “G” models and lower-power 35W “GE” variants, both of which feature the same core configurations (CPU cores, GPU, NPU capabilities), and the only difference is in their power specification. The reason could be that the G variant is designed for desktops and power PCs, whereas the GE variant is designed for smaller form factor mini PC, SBCs, and COM Express modules.
The top-tier Ryzen AI 7 450G and PRO 450G feature 8 cores and 16 threads with boost clocks up to 5.1 GHz and Radeon 860M graphics. The mid-range Ryzen AI 5 440G and 435G models feature 6 cores and 12 threads with Radeon 840M graphics.
AMD also notes that both desktop and mobile workstations with the new Ryzen AI 400 Series processors are expected to become available starting in Q2 2026 from major OEMs, including HP, Lenovo, and Dell.
