Casio's wild "alien eyes" G-Shock GA-V01 gets a transparent treatment

Casio has refreshed its GA-V01 series with four new transparent models. The new Transparent Pack maintains the watch’s futuristic, alien-inspired styling but replaces solid cases with skeleton-style transparent shells, while also introducing a brand new orange colorway.
The digital-analog Transparent Pack consists of the GA-V01SKE-3A (neon green), GA-V01SKE-4A (orange), GA-V01SKE-6A (purple), and GA-V01SKE-8A (black), with each model featuring a large inverted LCD resembling alien eyes. The orange variant is the standout edition here and seemingly replaces the silver model from the original lineup, which first launched in China in February last year.
Despite the transparent makeover, the GA-V01SKE doesn't compromise on durability or ruggedness, which the G-Shock is known for. Like the original models, it uses the same integrated bezel-and-band construction to protect the central module. The massive 3D hour markers hovering over the glass aren’t just for show, either, as they actually double as a bumper to absorb impacts.
Casio also developed a magnetic holding structure that attaches analog hands using magnetic force. For example, if you accidentally bash your wrist against a doorframe, the magnetic structure allows the "Shock Release Hand to shake or shift out of position and deflect the impact before snapping back into its proper position.
The new collection retains the oversized proportions of its predecessor, measuring 58.2mm wide and 19.6mm thick, and tipping the scale at 74g.
As expected, the watch is shock-resistant and water resistant to 200 meters, and offers practical features like World Time (48 cities), a 1/100-second stopwatch, acountdown timer, five daily alarms, Auto Dual LED lighting, along with an impressive 10-year battery life.
Pricing & Availability
The Casio G-Shock GA-V01SKE is up for pre-order in Japan starting today. It's priced ¥24,200 (~$155) and will be available for purchase from Casio stores and authorized retailers later this month. If the original GA-V01 series is any indication, we’ll likely see a wider release across the US, UK, and Europe soon enough.
