Deal | This Casio G-Shock collab watch with interchangeable bezels and straps gets discounted by nearly $100 (40%)

When Casio’s collaboration watch with Colombian artist J Balvin dropped back in Jan 2025, fans liked the design and accessory choices, but criticized its high price point, especially for a 5600-series module. More than a year later, the watch just got a big price drop. The G-Shock DWE5600JB1A9, originally listed at $230, is now discounted by 40% to $138 - that's almost a $100 discount.

As mentioned earlier, the watch is based on the classic 5600 series square design, but the collab adds a few custom touches. Most importantly, the model includes interchangeable components, so users can switch between a neon-yellow resin case and strap or a black variant included in the package. Both configs feature small lightning-bolt graphics and the text "Ma G," which is a reference to J Balvin’s personal catchphrase.

The watch measures 48.9 × 43.8 × 13.7 mm and weighs 54 g. It's built with carbon and resin, using Casio’s Carbon Core Guard structure. As expected from a G-Shock square, the watch also carries 200-meter water resistance.

Functionally, the DWE5600JB1A9 comes with the familiar digital toolkit. Features include a 1/100-second stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, multi-function alarm, hourly time signal, and flash alert that triggers during alarms or countdown timers. The watch also has a Super Illuminator LED backlight, full auto-calendar to 2099, and ±15 seconds per month accuracy. Plus, battery life is rated at roughly five years using a CR2016 cell, which is typical for the platform.

Besides the specs, the watch’s primary appeal is undoubtedly its presentation. Casio packages the model with the extra bezel and strap. Put that next to the bright yellow colorway and artist branding, and the watch makes a much louder impression than the average 5600-series release. And considering you're getting the collaboration model at roughly the same cost as many standard G-Shock releases, this should be a solid pickup for collectors who may have skipped it at launch.
