Casio G-Shock x J Balvin 'Time Matters' collab: Bold yellow limited edition watch to launch with customizable straps

Casio has partnered with global music icon J Balvin to introduce the DWE-5600JB-1A9, a new, vibrant addition to the G-Shock lineup. The collaboration has resulted in a timepiece that would definitely catch some attention, since it stands out without trying too hard.

The watch comes with a translucent yellow bezel and band, complemented by an additional black bezel and bands. This would allow users to customize their watch to match different styles and occasions. Built with a carbon fiber-reinforced resin case, the DWE-5600 series offers high durability while maintaining a lightweight profile. The watch includes standard G-Shock features such as shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, and an EL backlight for visibility in low-light conditions.

The choice of bright colors and interchangeable parts could be interpreted as a representation of J Balvin's musical style. Moreover, the inclusion of a swappable black bezel and band set means the watch will be pretty versatile, letting wearers adapt the watch's appearance to various settings, from casual outings to slightly more formal events. The face of the watch has the title of one of J Balvin's songs - "Ma' G" in a funky font, from the album JOSE (released in 2021).

While initially confirmed for release in Indonesia, the DWE-5600JB-1A9 is expected to be available in other markets, including the United States, but there is no Japanese launch confirmation yet. This launch strategy is the exact opposite of the freshly launched Casio Fine Metallic Series, which seems to be a Japan-exclusive release. The expected price point for the Casio x J Balvin collab watch is around $230, but the final launch price might differ.
