Casio has launched two new G-Shock watches in Japan, the GA-010-1A1JF and the GD-010-1A1JF. Rumors about these models began last year, and they arrive alongside the GA-010CE-2AJF and GD-010CE-5JF wearables. They are similar to existing international models like the GA-010-1A, though the newer models feature the inverse display with a dark background and light figures.
These GA-010 and GD-010 watches are very similar to the new GA-010CE and GD-010CE gadgets. The main difference is that the CE variants have a Cordura band made from recycled, durable yarn. The GA-010-1A1JF and the GD-010-1A1JF instead use a typical resin strap, which also makes them around 8 g (~0.3 oz) lighter at 65 g (~2.3 oz) and 67 g (~2.4 oz), respectively.
The GD-010 has the same features as the GD-010CE, like the ability to display the time in up to four global cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a timer and alarms. The GA-010, like the GA-101CE, offers glow-in-the-dark Neobrite elements and can show the time in one chosen time zone, with 48 cities available. There is also a stopwatch, timer and alarms, with slight differences in the capabilities for each watch. All models feature a dark display with light figures, a white LED backlight, and a fully automatic calendar. Plus, they are expected to run for around ten years on a CR2025 battery.
You can now pre-order the G-Shock GA-010-1A1JF and the G-Shock GD-010-1A1JF for ¥18,150 (~$115) and ¥14,850 (~$94), respectively. The wearables are set to be released later this month in Japan, though it is unclear whether or when these models will launch in other regions like North America. Here, the GA010-5A with a light background and dark figures is currently available for $105 at Amazon.
