Casio Japan has officially taken the wraps off two new G-Shock models—GD-010CE-5JF and GA-010CE-2AJF. These watches center around sustainability, as in, they both have a rugged design with environmentally conscious aspects. Both models are set for release in January 2025, priced at ¥17,050 ($110) for the GD-010CE and ¥20,350 ($132) for the GA-010CE.
The standout feature of these models is their use of biomass plastics for the case and bezel, which is a testament to Casio's push towards eco-friendly manufacturing. The durable cross-straps on the watches incorporate "Cordura" re/cor materials, which uses recycled PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) threads for sustainability and long-lasting performance. In addition, the straps are dyed using "Food Textile", a method that repurposes food waste for natural coloration. The GD-010CE features tones derived from echinacea, while the GA-010CE uses hues sourced from red turnips.
Functionality is still a cornerstone for both models. The GD-010CE is equipped with a 10-year battery life and provides standard G-Shock features like 200-meter water resistance, multiple time zones, and precise alarms. The GA-010CE, with its analog-digital layout, adds advanced features such as world time, a stopwatch, and a countdown timer, alongside its shock resistance
The design of these watches is heavily inspired by a natural lifestyle, with earthy colors and materials that mesh both durability and environmental responsibility. The models are exclusive to the Japanese market (so far), making them a potential collector’s item for international fans.
