Casio is known for releasing Japan-exclusive timepieces often, and now, the company has officially announced the launch of two new G-Shock models, the DW-5600KHK24-1JR and DW-5600KHG24-1JR, exclusively for the Japanese market.
The first Japan-themed DW-5600KHK24-1JR incorporates an intricate theme inspired by Japanese art and culture. Its display features a backlit LED with a “Made in Japan” signature, which is a subtle nod to the watch’s origins and craftsmanship. This model is housed in a shock-resistant resin case and offers 20-bar water resistance, along with other standard features like a countdown timer, stopwatch, and full auto-calendar functionality. The packaging includes artwork reflective of traditional Japanese aesthetics as well.
The DW-5600KHG24-1JR, while retaining similar technical specifications, also sets itself apart with its modern reinterpretation of classic 5600 elements. Both models come equipped with a mineral glass display, 52g weight for lightweight wear, and compatibility with wrist sizes between 145mm and 205mm. These are classic yet durable timepieces, which will definitely appease Japanese watch enthusiasts who are fans of both history and the brand itself.
From the images, it’s clear that the attention to detail extends beyond the watches themselves. The packaging — adorned with iconic Japanese prints like “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji,” is a sign of the brand’s cultural homage. The LED backlight on the DW-5600KHK24-1JR, which illuminates with the words “Made in Japan,” also highlights Casio’s pride in Japanese craftsmanship.
These models are set to be released in Japan in January 2025, priced at ¥17,600 (~$112) each. Given the precedence of past Japan-themed launches, it's highly likely these watches will remain exclusive to the Japanese market. Regardless, we should have additional information in the coming weeks.
