While gaming laptops have a habit of dropping in price quite rapidly some months after launch, high-end notebooks with the GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 laptop GPUs have somewhat bucked this trend. As such, gamers have to be prepared to spend a pretty penny on an RTX 4080 or an RTX 4090 gaming laptop. Unfortunately, this trend is also true for machines that have been on the market for more than a year.
For instance, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gen 8, which has an RTX 4080 laptop GPU, a Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage, is currently retailing for $2,499.99 on Amazon. So, gamers who want an RTX 4080/RTX 4090 notebook but don't want to spend a lot of cash will need to look to the refurbished market.
If you are prepared to do that, you will find a good deal in the “Certified-Refurbished” Legion Pro 7 (16 Gen 8) which Lenovo is now selling for just $1,809.99 on eBay. The machine packs similar specs to the new Legion Pro 7 mentioned above but comes with 2 TB of total storage. Lenovo is also offering a 2-year Allstate warranty to provide peace of mind (linked below).
Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16 Gen 8 is a QHD gaming beast
Thanks to the powerful RTX 4080 laptop and the 16-core Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU, it is not hard to see how the Legion Pro 7 is a gaming beast. Our review device with a Core i9-13900HX CPU and the same GPU showed excellent QHD gaming performance. The machine played titles like Dead Space Remake at 81 FPS at QHD/ultra.
Moreover, games will also look and feel pretty good on the Legion Pro 7’s display, as the panel covers almost full sRGB gamut while delivering up to 511 nits of brightness and a good contrast ratio. The display also boasts a short response time and comes pre-calibrated.
For folks who want to use multiple displays, the Legion Pro 7 has a total of three display-outs courtesy of two Type-C connectors and an HDMI 2.1 output. There are also two Type-A ports, an RJ45, and a 3.5 mm jack. However, the laptop lacks a microSD/SD card reader (Available on Amazon).
Overall, the certified-refurbished Lenovo Legion Pro 7 on sale is a solid value considering the price/performance on offer.
