HP unveils ZBook 8 G2i with more power and a slimmer GaN charger

HP has announced new models under its ZBook line of mobile workstations. The new ZBook 8 G2i arrives as a successor to the ZBook 8 G1i released a year ago.
The new ZBook 8 G2i is available in two models — there's the ZBook 8 G2i 16 and the smaller ZBook 8 G2i 14. Both are targeted at professionals such as engineers, architects, product designers, AI developers, and professional creators, specifically those on the move.
HP says the new computers will be available in Intel and AMD versions, with upgradeable memory, and improved portability without sacrificing battery life. HP says it has also partnered with Intel and Autodesk to speed up the time of iteration and reduce the time to achieve real results.
According to the press release, an engineer using Autodesk Inventor on the ZBook 8 G2i can render designs 3.3 times faster than one using the ZBook 8 G1i. HP also says the new ZBook 8 workstations now have a new 100W USB-C GaN adapter that is 40% smaller and 50% lighter than the 100W USB-C AC Adapter.
While technical specifications have not yet been released, one model mentioned in the press release has an Intel Core Ultra 3-series CPU and 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. However, more details including pricing will be released before their availability in April.
