More powerful than Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 9: HP launches ZBook X G2i

HP is adding to its workstation lineup for 2026. The American company has announced the HP ZBook X G2i, which replaces last year's HP ZBook X G1i (available on Amazon).
This 16-inch workstation laptop takes up an important position in the HP ZBook lineup - it is a less expensive workstation laptop than the premium models of the ZBook Ultra and ZBook Fury, but it still includes powerful components. Notably, this includes the Nvidia RTX Pro 3000 Blackwell, a professional GPU for CAD and AI tasks.
This is notable, because the RTX Pro 3000 Blackwell is not as common as the less powerful RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell. For example, Lenovo does not even offer this GPU in an ThinkPad workstation, except for the thick and heavy Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 3. Even the very expensive Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is limited to the RTX Pro 2000 class GPU.
This is not the case with the HP ZBook X G2i, which also includes the latest Panther Lake H class CPUs and up to 128 GB of RAM - which means the less expensive HP workstation may clearly beat the more premium ThinkPad in terms of performance.
HP ZBook X G1i: Pricing and availability
HP remained vague on the details about the ZBook X G1i - it will be available in Spring 2026, but no pricing has been announced.
