Asus is now selling a new 16-inch gaming laptop globally. Equipped with a more powerful processor than last year's model, the ROG Strix G16 2026 retains a 90 Wh battery while jumping to a 300 Hz display with access to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 GPUs.

More than three months have passed since Asus launched new ROG Strix gaming laptops. Not only has the company started selling the more powerful ROG Strix Scar 18 in the meantime, but it has also updated its ROG Zephyrus range with new 16-inch releases.

Now. Asus has quietly released its latest ROG Strix G16 globally. Currently, we have found retail listings in Canada, France, Hong Kong, Italy and the UK. However, Asus’ website indicates that it is preparing to offer the 2026 edition in the US too.

The Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus is a defining change between 2025 and 2026 models. While still a 24-core processor, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus should provide the ROG Strix G16 with around 7% higher processor performance than the 2025 edition when configured with a Core Ultra 9 275HX that we reviewed in early 2025 (curr. $2,399 on Amazon).

Asus also equips the ROG Strix G16 2026 with a 90 Wh battery that supports 280 W charging.

Another upgrade over the 2025 edition is the inclusion of a 300 Hz display. Still a 1600p IPS panel, this new display reaches its peak refresh rate only when its dGPU is running in Ultimate mode. Otherwise, it will peak at 240 Hz, matching the 2025 edition. Lower-end models feature a 1200p and 165 Hz panel though, which also peaks at a measly 300 nits.

Pricing starts at £2,599 in the UK, discounted by £200 from £2,799. Meanwhile, the new ROG Strix G16 can be picked up in Canada for CAD 3,299 on Best Buy or CAD 3,699 on Asus with the same GeForce RTX 5070 8GB laptop GPU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The new 16-inch laptop can be configured with the GeForce RTX 5060 or GeForce RTX 5080 in other markets, with the former priced at €1,899 and the latter hitting €3,599 in the Eurozone and HKD 28,998 (~$3,698) in Hong Kong.
