Battlefield 6 RedSec launched yesterday, October 28, and brought a free-to-play battle royale mode that fans were anxiously waiting for. Now that they’ve been able to get their hands on it, a lot of issues have come to light, putting the game in the ‘Mostly Negative’ section on Steam. Of course, these are opinions from PC players only and it’s just been a day.
RedSec players have bombarded the Steam review section by sharing their disappointments about the challenges and the lack of solo mode. At the time of writing, there are about 1,500 reviews and the game is sitting at ‘Mostly Negative.’ A lot of players who like to play solo are unable to do so since there are only duo and quad mode, with no option to disable autofill.
Several others have complaints about having to do battle royale related challenges when they just want to play the base game. The challenges cannot be rerolled so players are forced to play the battle royale mode to unlock items. Another commentor stated that the time to kill is very short, despite having armor plates, leaving no time for reacting to someone who sneaks up on you.
That being said, it’s only been a day since the mode has been out and the developers have, up till now, been pretty quick to listen and implement player feedback. These initial reviews could change over the next couple weeks. However, as it stands now, not a positive start for RedSec. Whether or not this turns people away from buying the base game and enjoying the regular multiplayer modes and the campaign, remains to be seen.
