While Battlefield 6’s Engineers are supposed to keep vehicles running, many players have been using their Repair Tool for something else entirely: in-game wall art. Players are sharing scorch-mark drawings and mini masterpieces made with the Engineer gadget across X and Reddit, sparking amusement across the community.

Battlefield 6 may be designed around large-scale warfare, but some players are treating it as a creative playground instead. Since launch, the game’s Engineer class, traditionally responsible for fixing tanks and aircraft, has been using its blowtorch-style Repair Tool to draw on walls, vehicles, and even the ground.

The Repair Tool leaves visible burn marks wherever it’s used, a detail that long-time players of the series will recognize from past entries. However, the return of destructible environments and more reactive materials in Battlefield 6 appears to have made those markings much more distinct. That combination has inspired a wave of artistic experimentation among fans.

Clips and screenshots have spread across Reddit’s r/Battlefield6, showing Engineers sketching smiley faces, logos, and pop-culture icons like Hatsune Miku or Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. Others have used the tool to “write” small messages, arrows, or even set up impromptu games of tic-tac-toe for passing squads to stumble upon.

Reddit users discuss the trend with a mix of humor and admiration. Some users applaud the creativity, while others jokingly complain that half the Engineers are too busy drawing instead of repairing. Several posts have highlighted that the Repair Tool marks fade after a short time, meaning most drawings are essentially just temporary battlefield graffiti.

Despite the apparent silliness on display, the trend also highlights one of Battlefield 6’s biggest strengths: emergent gameplay. DICE’s detailed Frostbite engine allows unscripted moments like these to unfold naturally, from crumbling skyscrapers to soldiers painting walls with plasma tools. EA has yet to comment on the artistic exploits, but community managers have responded positively to similar fan creativity in past installments.

Whether viewed as harmless fun or a waste of valuable Engineer time, the “torch art” trend is one of Battlefield 6’s most lighthearted side-stories so far. And for a game built on explosive chaos, maybe a few smiles and doodles between battles aren’t such a bad thing.
