Finally, after months of speculation, leaks, and anticipation, Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode has got a launch date. The official Battlefield account and the YouTube channel have been updated to share the date, as well as prepare for a launch gameplay trailer. Recently, a datamine revealed that the game mode could arrive as early as this week and that seems to have been accurate.
Officially called RedSec, the battle royale mode will launch tomorrow, October 28. The YouTube channel has a gameplay trailer scheduled for 8:00 PT (11 am ET) tomorrow. There were a few leaks from early last month that had suggested the October 28 release date but EA had not confirmed anything. It did show a teaser in September and shared that the game mode was being tested.
As per previous leaks and datamines, RedSec is expected to bring some interesting additions to the standard battle royale mode. It will be set in a fictionalized California and the leaked full map showed the different points of interest, as well as the locations that will be included. As for the mechanics, there will be free redeployment for players who get eliminated shortly after dropping in. There is an ‘Oversight’ system that will let eliminated players still contribute via remote cameras, drones, and turrets during team matches.
The October 28 release date puts the game mode closer to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launch on November 14. Whether that will affect sales for the latter, remains to be seen. Activision did attempt to distract fans from the Battlefield 6 launch on October 10 by giving players a free week of Black Ops 6 during the same week.
