The DJI Neo 2 is edging towards release, at least in China. In short, rumours about DJI replacing its Neo drone (curr. $159 on Amazon) have been flying around for months. However, the company only confirmed an October 30 launch event for what appears to be a Neo successor last week.
Since then, global pricing, official images and other details have emerged. As we covered at the time, the Neo 2 is tipped to land for around $229 in the US with the drone itself and a battery. Alternatively, the drone is said to be available in various packages up to the Fly More Kit Bundle with accessories like a Motion 3 controller, a Goggles N3 adapter, a charging hub and three batteries for $449. According to Jasper Ellens, DJI plans to complement these with the following optional extras:
- DJI Care Refresh 1-year plan - $28
- DJI Care Refresh 2-year plan - $48
- Intelligent Flight Battery - $129
- Propellers - $39
- Propeller guards - $49
- Two-Way Charging Hub - $79
As the leaker notes, these hardware accessories have doubled in price from the DJI Neo's. Meanwhile, hands-on photos appear to show the presence of a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor that DJI already uses on its Flip drone. Apparently, the Neo 2 will follow in the Flip's footsteps by featuring a small LED screen for displaying text, too. Unfortunately, a global release date has not emerged yet.
