AE60 Ultra: Cheap drone launches with zoom camera, 4K video and load dropping

The AE60 Ultra is a drone available for direct import via AliExpress at a price of around $290. The model is designed to impress with its wide range of functions, but these cannot be fully utilized in every country. For example, the drone supports the dropping of loads. This feature may be useful for transporting to inaccessible locations, but dropping loads is not permitted in certain countries without a special permit.

Two image sensors on a movable gimbal

A gimbal with two image sensors is installed, comprising a main camera and a zoom lens with 5x optical zoom. The main camera offers a viewing angle of 110° and a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, while images can be captured at 7,680 x 4,320. The gimbal allows movement in three axes, meaning it can be tilted, rotated and rolled. The manufacturer specifies a flight time of around 29 minutes and a weight of 727 grams, of which the latter is well above the legal limit of 250 grams for recreational drone flying in many countries.

A remote control is included

Image content can be transmitted over a distance of up to 12 kilometers. A matching controller is included with the drone, which is also equipped with a 7.2-inch touchscreen. According to the manufacturer, an Android system is used and apps can also be installed. Obstacle avoidance is integrated. A GPS module is also on board, which allows the AE60 Ultra to automatically return to its take-off point when the battery is running low.
