According to EA, Battlefield 6’s battle royale will stay true to the series’ formula. Instead of focusing solely on survival, it emphasizes squad-based combat with 100 players, destructible environments, vehicles, and the franchise’s signature class system. Roles are chosen before each match and evolve through gadgets and abilities during play, a setup that could set the game apart from genre heavyweights like Call of Duty: Warzone. The shrinking ring also differs from most titles – it isn’t just hazardous but instantly lethal on contact.
The battle royale mode introduces a new map featuring diverse tactical hotspots across different environments. Light transport vehicles are available from the start, while heavier options such as tanks unlock later in the match. Gameplay is further enhanced by dynamic mission objectives and a loot system that categorizes weapons into five tiers. The “Strike Packages,” which we covered previously, are also expected to play a key role.
Community reaction divided
Reactions to the X post have been mixed, though many users expressed clear excitement. Comments such as “This is going to be great!” reflect the buzz around the announcement. The traditional loot system and the instantly deadly ring have been particularly well received. At the same time, criticism has surfaced, especially over the fixed squad size of four and the inclusion of armored vehicles. One user put it bluntly: “Squads only = dead game.” Others dismissed the mode entirely, calling it a waste of resources.
Despite some criticism, overall community interest appears strong, with most players open to the new format. A specific start date for the upcoming test phase has not yet been announced. The battle royale mode is planned as a free expansion following the release of Battlefield 6, scheduled for October 10.
