It may surprise fans to learn that Black Ops 7 still has more support than its rivals. Despite superior Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders player counts on Steam, Call of Duty boasts greater engagement on consoles. Arc Raiders dominates on PC, but that supremacy hasn’t translated to the PS5 or Xbox.

There has been growing negativity surrounding Call of Duty games. Most recently, Activision decided to adjust its annual release schedule for Black Ops and Modern Warfare. Even so, the situation with Black Ops 7 may not be as dire as Steam player counts suggest. Frequent leaker CharlieIntel revealed that the shooter has stronger multi-platform support than Battlefield 6 or Arc Raiders.

The source confirms that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 had fewer active players than Black Ops 6 did immediately after their release dates. Modern Warfare 3 also saw stronger initial participation. Nevertheless, CharlieIntel believes more gamers are playing Black Ops 7 than the competition.

Gamers don’t have a complete picture of how popular cross-platform games are on the PS5 and Xbox. Game Pass, which offers COD, also doesn’t regularly publish detailed data on its most active titles. That said, there are U.S. statistics that back up the claims in the social media post.

How does the Black Ops 7 picture differ on consoles?

For the week ending on November 29th, Call of Duty games ranked second on Circana’s player engagement charts. On both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the Activision franchise finished only behind Fortnite. Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 held the sixth position, with Arc Raiders further down the list. It’s important to keep in mind that Call of Duty HQ encompasses several different releases.

It may be difficult for PC players to accept that Embark’s extraction shooter doesn’t tower over Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7. More than five weeks after its debut, the Arc Raiders player count on Steam remains significantly higher. In recent days, it’s been peaking at more than 250,000 combatants, after topping out at over 480,000 players. EA’s military shooter has been well under 200,000, while Call of Duty has dropped below 80,000.

Judging from various reports, Battlefield 6 is setting the pace for sales. Still, the multitude of Call of Duty games could be just enough to keep more players loyal. However, with Activision switching to a more sparse release calendar, it will need a better performance from future titles.
