Battlefield 6 had a very strong start when it launched, but recent player data suggests that interest in the game has dropped sharply over time. On October 10, the day of its release, the game reached an impressive peak of 747,440 concurrent players on Steam. That number made it one of the biggest launches in the franchise’s history and showed massive early interest from the community.
However, things have now changed. According to recent SteamDB data, Battlefield 6’s active player count has been steadily declining, especially after the release of Season 1. Each passing week has seen fewer players logging in, and the numbers are now far below the launch peak. At the moment, the game sits between 30,000 and 90,000 concurrent players, which represents a decline of nearly 90% from its launch-day high.
What’s more concerning is how often the player count dips to the lower end of that range. While the daily peak now reaches around 90,000 players on better days, the numbers frequently fall below 40,000. Just yesterday, the lowest recorded concurrent player count dropped to 30,955.
The exact reason behind this drop is not clear. However, some players believe it is due to a lack of new content, especially new maps. Right now, there is still no official confirmation on when Season 2 will arrive. Based on current expectations, it is likely to launch sometime between January 20 and January 27. Details about what Season 2 will include are also unknown, but many players agree that it needs to bring a significant amount of new content if the developers want to slow or reverse the decline.
