Despite a 10-year agreement in place, Activision hasn't released a Call of Duty Switch or Switch 2 game. A job listing could finally signal the return of the shooter franchise to a Nintendo console. Sledgehammer Games is hunting for a Senior Technical Artist with experience on handheld platforms.
The studio has developed various titles in the series, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. As discovered by Clawsomegamer, the listing can be found on the Activision Careers site. In the section below the requirements, having past involvement with the Switch would score bonus points.

Activision may be looking to create another Call of Duty mobile game for smartphones. Still, as the Clawsomegamer article points out, Warzone is already available on Android and iOS devices. With Sledgehammer Games providing content for past Warzone releases, a Switch 2 port is possible.
Warzone thrives on mobile platforms
In 2023, Microsoft also argued that Warzone was the best match for a Switch console. In a message to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), it lauded its success with optimizing the game for older hardware. Improved Switch 2 specs should also help to smooth out choppy visuals. Developers would have a more difficult time achieving acceptable performance on the aging Switch.
Raising more possibilities, Sledgehammer was already reportedly working on a brand new Call of Duty game. TheGhostOfHope revealed that the studio would invent a unique experience for shooter fans, expected as soon as 2027.
Given the disappointing Black Ops 7 sales, a Switch 2 game could be a much-needed boost for the franchise. As part of its multi-platform approach, Microsoft expressed support for Nintendo’s console. Yet, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the only projects officially announced for the handheld. The job ad may alleviate any fears that the company has changed its mind.
