Mercedes-Benz aims to combine the iconic vintage look of its current G-Class with modern interior features. The compact version of the G-Class, recently photographed in Stuttgart and dubbed the "Baby-G" or "Mini-G," reveals some interesting details of the upcoming electric vehicle.
The photos of the Mercedes Baby-G EQ from Newcar on X reveal that the distinctive, angular look of the G-Class has been retained, but the all-electric SUV appears significantly more compact than the regular G-Class. And, of course, the spare tire carrier on the rear is also present.
Baby-G EQ adopts the G-Class style
Despite the heavy camouflage of the prototype, round daytime running lights are visible at the front, which are also modeled after the full-size G-Class and are recessed accordingly. Furthermore, there are roof rails, and the sides feature prominent wheel arches, three side windows on each side and bow-shaped door handles.
At the rear, the side-opening tailgate typical of an off-road vehicle, small rear lights, and a recess for the license plate can be seen. Overall, the Baby-G EQ electric SUV remains true to the iconic G-Class look, which suggests off-road capability. As is usual for an off-road vehicle, all-wheel drive is also expected.
Nevertheless, the Mercedes Baby-G EQ possesses a certain uniqueness in its design without denying its roots. Mercedes-Benz may be aiming to attract a younger target group with the electric SUV Baby-G EQ, as suggested by its somewhat modern look.
