China has completed the production of a new 2-ton cargo aircraft capable of flying over 1,000 kilometers (621 miles), marking a significant landmark in the development of a multi-tiered aerial freight network.

Shenyang Sunny Aeronautics and Space Adventure Co has completed production of the Sunny-T2000 — a large unmanned cargo aircraft designed to bridge the gap in regional logistics. Developed right in Shenyang's Shenbei New District, the drone has a 15-cubic-meter rectangular cargo bay with a maximum payload of two metric tons.

According to the company's chairman He Jun, the aircraft boasts an operational range of over 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) and can operate from runways as short as 800 meters. These specifications allow it to operate effectively in remote or mountainous areas. The aircraft is also capable of aerial drops, making it suitable for emergency rescue and forest firefighting missions.

The Sunny-T2000 is just the first step in a broader roadmap. The company is already developing a 6-ton model — powered by an ATP120 turboprop engine and sized to carry a standard shipping container — as well as 7-ton and 10-ton platforms for heavier, cross-regional transport.

This development aligns with Shenbei New District’s push to build a "low-altitude economy." To support these operations, the district has secured approval for 14 airspace zones and built 21 temporary takeoff and landing sites, creating the infrastructure needed for a full-stack aerial freight network spanning from heavy haul to last-mile delivery.
