DJI has not officially launched its next Avata series drone yet as a replacement for the Avata 2 (curr. $789 on Amazon). In fact, the company has not even posted any teasers relating to the drone yet. Nonetheless, a retailer called US Drone Supply has quietly opened pre-orders for the DJI Avata 360 in the US.
In short, while new foreign-made drones are now banned from sale in the US, those that have already been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) remain legal to sell, buy and fly in the US. The Avata 360 falls into this camp, although the wording of US Drone Supply's website suggests that these drones were intended for sale in other markets. Consequently, DJI may not honour any warranties typically associated with its consumer drones.
Setting that aside, US Drone Supply asserts that DJI will sell the Avata 360 in four configurations. Starting with a base bundle of the drone itself and a battery for $999, the Avata 360 will also be available in Fly More Bundles with one or three batteries for $1,299.99 and $1,799.99, respectively. Alternatively, the Motion Fly More Bundle is said to eschew an RC 2 controller for the Goggles N3.
Please note that there is every chance that US Drone Supply has inflated these prices somewhat. Regardless, the retailer indicates that pre-orders should start shipping in late February. In other words, the Avata 360's official release should occur within the next few weeks. Based on recent performance, China will be the first market in which the Avata 360 will be available. All things considered, we would expect DJI to begin teasing the Avata 360's Chinese release within the next week or so.
