LG has brought the Magnit Active Micro LED display to the US market following its premiere in South Korea earlier this year.
Designed for luxury homes and home theaters, the 136-inch 4K (3,840 x 2,160) display is assembled from four 68-inch cabinets, each of which contains display modules with a resolution of 480 x 540 and a pixel pitch of 0.78 mm. The display has a total assembled weight of 175 kg (386 lbs.). The modules use tiny LEDs to light each pixel for direct light control across the entire image, reducing light bleed and lifted black levels common to conventionally backlit LCD TVs, according to LG.
The Magnit offers 1,700 nits of peak brightness, 300 nits of maximum full-screen brightness, and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 while displaying images at a 144 Hz VRR (variable refresh rate). The panel supports HDR10 and HDR10 Pro high dynamic range images from streaming video services offered by the built-in webOS 23, Miracast & AirPlay 2 wireless casting, or from antenna, cable, or HDMI video sources.
The Magnit comes with a 100-watt speaker system, and the display uses an average of 650 watts, with a peak power draw of 1,800 watts. When not actively used, the Magnit can display a selection of personal images or art masterpieces.
