TCL has released its more affordable Projector C1 in the UK. This smart home model arrives in the country alongside the PlayCube, which has an unusual twistable design. It was released in the US several months ago (curr. $199.99 at Amazon).
The TCL C1 is an LCD projector with a 1080p native resolution and support for 4K content. The fully sealed optical engine is said to deliver up to 230 ISO brightness, meaning it can only be used in a dark room. It can throw images from 40 to 120 inches wide, with a 1,27:1 throw ratio and a 1,200:1 contrast ratio. Auto display correct technology brings features like automatic focus, keystone correction, screen fit and obstacle avoidance for a quick set-up.
TCL’s C1 comes with the Google TV interface, including tools like Google Assistant voice commands and Chromecast wireless screen sharing. The model is also Netflix-certified and has an integrated 8W speaker, supporting Dolby Audio. This is a truly portable projector, with a built-in 60 Wh battery and an integrated adjustable angle stand. Plus, there are ports like HDMI, USB-A and a 3.5 mm jack, as well as Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It has a gray casing, measuring 138.4 x 145.2 x 230.7 mm (~5.45 x 5.72 x 9.08 inches) and weighing 3.9 lbs (~1.8 kg).
In the UK, you can now buy the TCL C series C1 Smart Home Cinema Projector for £249.99 at retailers like Currys. It is unclear when it could be released in other European countries.
