TCL has announced the availability of its X11L SQD-Mini LED smart TVs. These flagship televisions come with high-end prices to match: The 75-inch base model alone costs US$7,000, whilst the larger 85-inch and 98-inch models will set you back US$8,000 and US$10,000, respectively. Preorders are now open to consumers in the US, with other regions likely to follow in the near future.
The “SQD” in the product name stands for Super Quantum Dots. Designed to offer superior colour reproduction, quantum dot technology has already been used in other televisions. According to TCL, the X11L series achieves exceptional colour performance through a combination of Super Quantum Dots, the CSOT UltraColor Filter, and a dedicated algorithm, enabling full coverage of the BT.2020 gamut.
The 4K displays offer a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz and support FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive-sync technology when paired with a compatible source. Peak brightness is officially rated at 10,000 nits, though this level is unlikely to be sustained across the entire screen. The X11L series boasts up to 20,000 dimming zones, allowing it to deliver impressive contrast by adjusting the brightness of individual backlight areas. The smart TVs run on Google TV and feature four HDMI 2.1 ports, one of which supports HDMI eARC.
