A new gaming monitor has been spotted on the official Asus website, the ROG Strix XG27JCG. It's a dual-mode model that can switch between 5K 180Hz and QHD 180Hz modes. Of course, the former refresh rate at the 5120x2880 pixels resolution only applies in the overclocked mode, but it's still an impressive number.
As for the display, the gaming monitor features a 27-inch Fast IPS panel with an advertised HDR brightness of 600 nits. Asus adds that the screen can offer rich color output with a DCI-P3 coverage of 97%.
With a GTG rated response time of 0.3 ms, the ROG Strix XG27JCG also aims to deliver a responsive gaming experience in both QHD and 5K modes. There's support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, which, paired with ELMB Sync tech, promises tear-free visuals.
Given that it's a flagship gaming monitor, Asus has integrated a rich selection of ports, including:
- 2x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1x USB Type-C with DP Alt and PD (compatible 3.3-feet Silkland cable curr. $11.89 on Amazon)
- 1x USB 3.2 Type-B
- 1x headphone jack
Other highlights of the dual-mode ROG Strix XG27JCG include a sleek design with an ergonomic stand, multiple AI-powered gaming features, and VESA compatibility. There's no word on the price and availability yet, but Asus could disclose these details at CES 2026.
