ARC Raiders is an extraction shooter – or an “adventure,” as the developers at Embark Studios prefer to call it – that has quickly become one of the most popular multiplayer titles. Much like in Battlefield 6, its open-world setting often produces unexpected moments that leave players either smiling or shaking their heads.
In the latest example, a camper had holed up inside a control tower, waiting for an unsuspecting victim. Another raider spotted what looked like an easy target and was briefly caught off guard, but still managed to take the camper down. Feeling smug, he mocked his opponent over voice chat with a condescending “bloody idiot.” ARC Raiders is known for its occasionally toxic player base, and this moment was no exception. Laughing and looting, the victor had no idea he had just triggered a trap – one that was about to blow up in his face.
The camper had carefully planted seven mines at the tower’s only entrance, hiding them so well that they were invisible on approach. The moment the overconfident player stepped inside, the trap was sprung. The blast didn’t just take him out – it also finished off the downed camper, who was still crawling nearby. Reddit users were quick to label the clip “cinematic gold,” flooding the comments with jokes and gleeful reactions. Still, one question remains up for debate: who is the real “rat” here – the camper or the trash-talker?
By the way: ARC Raiders is also playable on the Steam Deck (currently priced at about $440 on Amazon).
