Razer first announced the Boomslang in 1999 as the first ever dedicated gaming mouse, and it was quite an interesting peripheral, even back then. The design is nothing like the traditional modern gaming mice that emphasize ergonomics as much as performance. Now, for its 20th anniversary, Razer is bringing the Boomslang back with a few meaningful upgrades, but still retaining the original design.
Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition
Razer is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the occasion, as well as pay homage to its gaming peripheral roots, the Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition has been announced. It brings back the leather left and right clicks, the unique snake-head shape, as well as the semi-transparent body. As for the upgrades, it packs Razer’s Gen 4 Optical switches and Gen 2 Focus Pro 45K optical sensor.
The Boomslang also comes with wireless charging support, Chroma RGB, and eight easy access controls. The package includes the Razer Mouse Dock Pro with support for HyperPolling up to 8,000 Hz.
Where and when to buy
The availability, however, is going to be scarce as Razer will be selling only 1,337 units globally. There is no sale date as of yet but those interested can sign up on the website and be notified when it drops. It will be available exclusively through Razer.com and select RazerStores.
