Razer Viper V4 Pro arrives as a lighter wireless gaming mouse with 50K optical sensor

Razer has unveiled the follow-up to the esports favorite Viper V3 Pro wireless gaming mouse. The Viper V4 Pro doesn’t introduce radical new features, but instead focuses on performance upgrades. With a 50K optical sensor, the manufacturer strives for a new level of precision. The 49-gram mouse also has some subtle design changes to enhance maneuverability.
The 6-button Razer Viper V4 Pro is available now in black or white colorways for $159.99. Buyers can find the new gear at the Razer store and various retailers.
The streamlined Viper V4 Pro design
While not the lightest gaming mouse, the latest iteration reduces the weight of the Viper V3 Pro by 5 grams. A smaller PCB, combined with thinner top and bottom shells, contributes to its trimmer profile. Yet, the manufacturer claims that the polyamide fiber material results in a sturdier accessory.

Razer is aware that the Viper V4 Pro will draw comparisons to the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike. Unfortunately, a haptic system won’t enhance gameplay in this alternative. Still, the brand emphasizes performance advantages, with higher sensitivity and lower click latency.
The Gen 3 Focus Pro 50K optical sensor benefits from Frame Sync, aiming for more consistent tracking. In Synapse 4, users can adjust DPI in one-step intervals and lift-off and landing distances with Asymmetric Cut-off.
An evolved Viper V3 Pro
Not surprisingly, gamers can set polling rates up to 8000Hz with an updated wireless dongle. At a more modest 1000Hz, battery life stands at 180 hours, which is a significant boost from the Viper V3 Pro’s 95 hours.
Another difference is that the new wireless mouse relies on an optical, rather than a mechanical scroll wheel encoder. That could lead to quieter web browsing and smoother weapon selection. Conversely, early impressions suggest that the Gen 4 optical switches feel more clicky, resembling the DeathAdder V4 Pro.
Esports pros, including Faker and NiKo, have already endorsed the Razer Viper V4 Pro. At a hefty $159.99, reviews may reveal if more casual gamers should consider upgrading their gaming mouse.
