Razer's new Cobra HyperSpeed gaming mouse is lighter yet more durable

Razer launched its Cobra series of gaming mice in 2023 with the wired Razer Cobra and the wireless Razer Cobra Pro. Now after two years, Razer is updating the lineup with the Cobra HyperSpeed which retains the design and customizability of the series, but makes some improvements in weight and durability. It does, however, scale back on the sensor but that shouldn’t affect real world gaming.

Starting with what’s new with the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed, it is even lighter than the Cobra Pro (77 grams) at just 62 grams. This weight reduction was likely possible due to the relatively older sensor and newer optical switch combination. The Cobra HyperSpeed comes with the Razer Focus X 26K Optical Sensor that is also present in the DeathAdder V3 HyperSpeed (buy on Amazon). While it is plenty accurate, the newer Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor present in the Cobra Pro is just a bit more.

As for the switches, Razer is using the Gen-4 optical switches that are even more durable than the previous generation, found in the Cobra Pro (buy on Amazon), promising over 100 million click lifecycle, as well as an enhanced click feel. The optical scroll wheel is claimed to be 3.3 times more durable than the previous generation.

Like the Cobra Pro, the HyperSpeed is also compatible with Razer’s Hyperflux V2, Mouse Dock Pro, and Wireless Charging Puck. Speaking of charging, it can last up to 110 hours on Razer HyperSpeed Wireless connection (1,000 Hz) and up to 170 hours on Bluetooth. There is three zone underglow RGB lighting but the scroll wheel does not light up. It comes with seven programmable buttons. Also like the Cobra Pro, the HyperSpeed is compatible with the 8,000 Hz HyperPolling Wireless Dongle.

Razer Cobra HyperSpeed gaming mouse price and availability

The Cobra HyperSpeed is priced at $100 and is available via Razer’s website. At this price, it sits between the Cobra ($60) and the Cobra Pro ($130). At the time of writing, the Cobra HyperSpeed is not available via Amazon but is listed on Best Buy. More retailers should start listing the mouse soon.
