Battlefield 6’s Open Beta might kick off earlier than expected as a recent leak from the EA App API has unveiled that the upcoming installment’s multiplayer beta could launch as early as August 4, 2025.
Moreover, DICE has confirmed an Open Beta but has not specified a release date in a post on their X handle, stating:
“Open Weapons vs Closed Weapons
Why not both?
Starting at Open Beta, players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not.
More to come.”
The API data offering clues on the open beta was first spotted by vigilant members of the Battlefield community, including Reddit user Fidler_2k. The data points to a build publication date of August 4. This indicates that the beta might start around that time. While this isn’t official confirmation, it could however just be the build publication date and not an official open beta release.
Adding to the hype amid the ongoing rumors surrounding Battlefield 6, the API mentions “early open beta access,” suggesting that pre-orders for Battlefield 6 might kick off on July 31, coinciding with the game’s official reveal.
It’s akin to EA’s long-standing early access strategy, where players who pre-order the game get to try out their titles a day or two before they’re officially out in the wild. However, gamers are advised to exercise caution, as one Reddit user noted, “this is a BUILD publication date, not actual public beta start,” but the Battlefield community’s enthusiasm is still electric.
EA has been diving deep into marketing, sending out Battlefield 6 care packages to content creators like rivaLxfactor and Doom49, branded with Battlefield 6’s logo. Moreover, recent developments suggest that a COD Next-style event is scheduled for the tail end of this month, where certain players and content creators will get closed access to Battlefield 6.
The beta aims to show the gaming community that DICE is returning to the Battlefield franchise’s roots and delivering an all-around experience akin to Battlefield 3 and 4, albeit with a modern twist.
EA’s Battlefield Labs has described the upcoming title as “the most ambitious community collaboration in franchise history.” BF Labs has been testing and fine-tuning the game since March 2025, with thousands of hours of pre-alpha gameplay already logged.
Rumors suggest that the beta will run for 3 to 10 days on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, though cross-play is yet to be confirmed. EA’s been under scrutiny ever since the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042, and pressure is mounting with the game’s inevitable announcement approaching.
