Battlefield 6 has been getting a lot of traction and fans are excited by what they have seen so far. The single-player tailer, multiplayer gameplay trailer, and actual multiplayer gameplay have received quite a lot of positive response. Now, the team has shared some more information that will come as good news for both console and PC players. Along with the reported server browser, Battlefield 6 will support cross-play, keyboard and mouse for consoles, and more.
Starting with frame rates, Battlefield 6 game designer Florian Le Bihan shared in an interview with Tech & Co (French) that the game is guaranteed to run at 60 FPS on console including the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Translated by a Reddit user, Le Bihan stated, “Optimization has been one of the most important things for Battlefield. We want a game that runs on all configurations, whether PC or PS5/Series.” The game designer added that with performance mode, it can run at even higher frame rates.
While he did not share any information particularly about the PS5 Pro, it is rumored that the console will be able to run Battlefield 6 at 120 FPS. For a fast-paced FPS like Battlefield 6, the higher the frame rate the better so 60 FPS across all consoles is great news, and 120 FPS on the PS5 Pro would be even better.
Next, DICE producer Alexia Christofi confirmed that Battlefield 6 will have cross-play across consoles and PC, but the implementation is a bit different. There will be an option to turn off cross-play entirely but when turned on, a platform preferred cross-play will be activated which will prioritize players on the same platform and then fill in the missing players from the other platform. So, if Xbox or PlayStation players are looking for a match, their lobby will prioritize other Xbox or PlayStation players rather than a first come first serve basis regardless of the platform.
Lastly, Christofi also confirmed that the console version of the game will have mouse and keyboard (MnK) support. However, it is unclear if MnK players on consoles will be matched with other console players on controllers or PC players exclusively. From the looks of it, it will likely be the former.
