Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be an exciting instalment in the series. The reported return of the battle royale mode is already a welcome addition and now the 120 FPS gameplay on PS5 Pro is the cherry on top.

The next Battlefield game has been the subject of a lot of leaks coming from the Battlefield Labs playtests. The latest is that the game will support 120 FPS on the PlayStation 5 Pro. While there are no images or video clips to justify this claim, it reportedly comes from one of the playtesters who did share images showing the FPS counter with a publication, along with some more information about FPS consistency.

According to the MP1ST report, the playtester shared with them one or more screenshots of the next Battlefield game running on the PS5 Pro. The framerate overlay reportedly shows the game running at 100 to 110 FPS with occasional dips to the high 80s. It adds that even with a lot of destruction, the frame rate stays at 100 FPS. Furthermore, during infantry combat, the frame rate is said to be a consistent 120 FPS. The leaker informed the publication that dips into the 80 FPS range were rare.

It should be noted that Battlefield 6, or whatever it ends up being called, is currently being playtested and that this functionality may not make it to the final build. If it does, Battlefield players will be in for a treat. Notably, Battlefield 2042 was capped at 60 FPS on console.

Given the improved capabilities of the PS5 Pro over the regular PS5, it is possible for more demanding titles to run at 120 FPS, Resident Evil Village being one of them.

As for Battlefield 6 running at 120 FPS on the PS5 Pro, it is unclear if the standard multiplayer or the recently reported battle royale mode, or both, will run at 120 FPS. It is expected that EA will announce the title this year as the release is planned before March 2026.
