One of the complaints that PlayStation 5 users have with their controllers is despite having Bluetooth functionality, they can only be paired to one device at a time. Fortunately, Sony has announced it will be releasing an update that will allow DualSense controllers to be paired with multiple devices simultaneously. Details about the update are unclear at this point.
The official PlayStation account on X shared the information stating that an update is planned for later this year that will enhance pairing functionality. The DualSense controller works with the PS5, PC, mobile devices, Mac, and more. For now, it can only be paired with one device at a time which means if you’ve been using the controller with the PS5 and want to switch over to PC or a mobile device, you need to either ensure that the PS5 is turned off or disconnected from the controller, and then pair it to the PC or mobile device.
With multi-device pairing, the DualSense controller should be able to remember paired devices and allow for easy switching between them. As to how exactly this would work, remains unclear. It is also unclear when exactly the update will be released and fans could have to wait for up to six months.
Notably, Xbox Series X and Series S controllers have had this functionality for quite some time now. They can be paired to an Xbox and a second device, and swap between the two using the Sync button.
PlayStation DualSense controllers are available in many different colors, most of which are currently on sale via Amazon and other retailers.
