There are more signs that Halo will be the next in a series of Xbox games to jump to the PS5. A well-known dataminer uncovered traces of an unannounced PlayStation title. Since the game has a new name, it may not be Halo Infinite or Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Following former exclusive Xbox games like Forza Horizon 5, a Halo title could soon appear on the PS5. The first-person shooter was critical to the success of Microsoft's gaming systems. Rumors have already circulated about the franchise making the leap to the rival console. Now, after digging through a retail API, a dataminer discovered evidence of an upcoming Halo PS5 game.

Grunt.api has been a reliable source for Halo leaks in the past. Some gamers had expected Halo Infinite to be the first entry in the series to debut on the PlayStation. Released on Xbox consoles and the PC in 2021 with a free-to-play multiplayer component, player counts have dwindled. A PS5 version could provide the game with a much-needed boost. Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which would include multiple titles, is another likely candidate. However, Grunt.api believes the PS5 release will have an entirely new name.

The dataminer also expects that Microsoft could announce a new Halo game soon. During the June 8th Xbox Games Showcase, Phil Spencer alluded to the "return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning" in 2026. It's known that multiple Halo titles are in development using the Unreal Engine 5. It appears increasingly likely that some or all of these projects will land on the PlayStation.

With Microsoft concentrating on software and services, porting Xbox games to other platforms has become routine. The strategy comes at the expense of the Xbox Series X|S. With fewer exclusive titles, there is less reason not to opt for a PS5 or PS5 Pro. A Halo PS5 release would be another reason for buyers to pass on the now more expensive Xbox consoles.

Although Microsoft also has an interest in Switch 2 titles, Grunt.api did not find references to the handheld. Even with Microsoft announcing the ROG Xbox Ally, it may find a Halo Switch 2 port too tempting to resist.
