Ninja Theory, best known for Heavenly Sword and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, has announced that the sequel to Hellblade will be coming to the PlayStation 5 "this summer."
The UK studio posted the announcement on X and promised "some exciting new features" that will be included in a free update to existing Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam players.
The original Hellblade was a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 4 and PC when it was released in 2017. It was later ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2019, followed by an Xbox Series X|S release in 2021.
Hellblade 2 is the latest Xbox exclusive coming to a new home on Sony's PlayStation. Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is set to release on PS5 in the spring this year, joined by Forza Horizon 5. It's heavily rumored that some titles from the Halo series may make their way onto the platform, along with the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and the new Gears of War game.
The Verge reported that Microsoft was also working on some ports for the Nintendo Switch 2, though not much is known about that yet.
Late last year, Xbox Chief Phil Spencer told Bloomberg, "I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say 'thou must not." Spencer said the company needed, "to be creative and adaptive of new business models, new devices, new ways of access. We're not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles."
