Matthew Griffin of Silksong developer Team Cherry has confirmed that the game will arrive before the holiday season. Its release will not coincide with the debut of the new Xbox handhelds.
Original article continues as follows:
Hollow Knight: Silksong made an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Still, some fans may feel a bit underwhelmed with the update. Viewers caught a glimpse of the Metroidvania title when Microsoft unveiled its ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handhelds. The title will be playable on the devices when they launch this Holiday 2025. However, gamers still lack a more precise Hollow Knight: Silksong release date.
Veteran games journalist Jason Schreier caused a stir before the Microsoft event with a comment about Silksong. On Bluesky, Schreier predicted that the show wouldn't include release date clarification. It's debatable whether he was correct, but players still only have a vague release window. During its April Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo already revealed that Team Cherry's long-awaited project would arrive in 2025.
Although any new videos or screenshots of Silksong are instantly dissected, gamers may have been hoping for more coverage. Now, audiences are wondering when they will see the game again. Despite rumors of participation, there also wasn't Silksong news at the recent Summer Game Fest.
When Nintendo showed Silksong in its Switch 2 Direct, it was the first footage aired in several years. Team Cherry could rely on the gaming giant again for future promotion. The original Hollow Knight found strong support when made available for the Switch in 2018. Nintendo may hold a June event focused on Switch 2 games, but there hasn't been official confirmation.
In September, Silksong will be playable at an Australian Centre for the Moving Image event. Unless the museum has exclusive access, time is running short to learn the exact Hollow Knight: Silksong release date.
