A little over a fortnight has passed since Ayaneo last offered up new details about its Flip 1S DS gaming handheld. For all intents and purposes, it seemed that the company was finished with Flip 1S DS teasers until it released a Pocket S successor (curr. $589.99 on Amazon). While Ayaneo has since teased Pocket S2 launch plans, it has not confirmed when the device will be available to back through Indiegogo.
Nonetheless, it has now returned to the Flip 1S DS with a detailed specification sheet and a series of promotional images. As previous teasers suggested, the Flip 1S DS not only features upgraded internal hardware but also a complete redesign from the model we reviewed at the end of last year. On the former, the Flip 1S DS continues the following highlights:
- 7-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 (16:9) OLED primary display, 144 Hz refresh rate, 800 nits brightness
- 4.5-inch, 1,620 x 1,080 (3:2) IPS secondary display
- AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU
- LPDDR5X RAM/M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 SSD
- 2x USB4 ports & microSD card slot
- Hall effect triggers & TMR electromagnetic joysticks
For some reason, Ayaneo is remaining quiet on the device's battery capacity for the time being. An OCuLink port is nowhere to be seen this time around either, although an M.2 2230 SSD slot returns. The aforementioned redesign has also allowed Ayaneo to reposition all auxiliary buttons beneath the device's secondary display while further recessing all controller buttons too.
Ayaneo has not confirmed pricing or a release date yet. Likewise, it has offered no clues about whether it plans to introduce a corresponding KB version, too. Please see Ayaneo's website for more details.
