After several direct and cryptic teasers, Retroid has finally announced its new dual-screen accessory for its gaming handheld. Officially called the Retroid Dual Screen Add-On, the accessory not only adds a secondary screen to compatible Retroid Pocket handhelds but also third-party devices.
The Retroid Dual Screen Add-On has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a brightness level of up to 500 nits, and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Retroid also highlights that the display has touch support as seen in the X post below.
The Dual Screen Add-On is compatible with the Retroid Pocket 5, Retroid Pocket Mini, Retroid Pocket Mini V2, and Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (available on Amazon for $199.99). It is also compatible with devices with a 6- or 7-inch display and support for Display port over USB-C. When attached to a compatible device, the hinge of the dual-screen accessory can be adjusted to 120°, 150°, and 180°.
The Retroid Dual Screen Add-On doesn't have a built-in battery, so it draws power from the connected device. However, thanks to support for pass-through charging, users can charge their handheld via the USB-C port on the accessory.
Retroid says the Dual Screen Add-On weighs about 130 grams. Priced at $69, it will be available to buy in three colors - Black, GC, and Translucent. The spec sheet says there's a screen protector and a carrying bag available but we are not sure if these come with the Dual Screen Add-On or have to be purchased separately.
At the moment, there's no info on availability, but with the spec sheet and price now public information, details about release and shipping dates should be announced soon.
