The recent Xbox Games Showcase revealed the Ninja Gaiden 4 release date as October 21st. Pre-order information is now available, featuring Standard and Deluxe editions for the PC, PS5, and Xbox. However, one retailer is gaining attention for what's undoubtedly a mistake. Walmart has listed the base PS5 version for a whopping $999.99. Gamers can reserve the hack-and-slash title at other stores for a more conventional price of $69.99/$89.99.
Walmart's page is most likely a SKU placeholder, where retailers add inventory without a confirmed price. Even though most readers on social media realize it's an error, gamers are anxious about the price of new titles. Nintendo broke barriers when it announced that Mario Kart World for the Switch 2 would cost $80. After raising the cost of its consoles, Microsoft also warned that some first-party Xbox games will become pricier. Sure enough, The Outer Worlds 2 will demand an $80 investment when it launches in October.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is also a day one Game Pass title, developed by Koei Tecmo but published by Xbox Game Studios. While the Standard Edition is $69.99, it's worth noting that disc versions are only available for the PS5. Xbox games with Play Anywhere compatibility are becoming exclusively digital. As far as bonuses, the only reward for the standard Ninja Gaiden 4 pre-order is the Dark Dragon Descendant Yakumo skin.
For $89.99, the Deluxe Edition bundles the same Yakumo skin, additional cosmetics, Divine Chimera Yakumo weapon set, and potentially future DLC. Players also receive 50,000 NinjaCoin, which can unlock new action skills.
After a 13-year wait, Ninja Gaiden 4 is the long-awaited follow-up to the third entry in the series. This time, fans will guide the younger Yakumo rather than the more recognizable Ryu Hayabusa. With the Koei Tecmo titles, combo-heavy battles against multiple opponents can be frustrating. Still, fans are anxious for the Ninja Gaiden 4 release date to see what challenges the game offers.
